The witches' new year has come and passed, and I hope you all are enjoying this energetic new year! I know I am.
With witches' new year, comes more downloads from ancestors, and the thinning of the veil between the spirit realm and the normal world for my baby witches. It's imperative to start the year off with protection spells to ensure success all year round.
Whether you're an experienced empath, or just starting out on your witchy and spiritual journey, it's important to know how to protect yourself while doing magic, and getting in tune with your ancestors and higher self.
Why should you protect yourself energetically?
When you begin the spiritual journey you'll notice you're more sensitive to energy in all of its many forms. The more you start to heal, the more you'll notice just how many narcissists, energy vampires, and overall lower vibrational energies and people surround you and your life. In the beginning of your journey, it's important to set a layer of protection around your aura, your goals, and your mind. What you surround yourself with is what you become.
1 Envious Energy can Cause a lot of unintentional harm - Narcissists and friends alike have the potential to send you harmful envious energy through what is commonly referred to as the evil eye. The evil eye symbol can be found in almost every religion. From Judaism to Buddhism, and Hinduism. The evil eye when worn on your body, or displayed in your home, serves as a sacred symbol meant for protection against jealousy and absorbs negative vibrations.
The evil eye is based on the belief that our eyes are one of the most powerful points in our bodies. Our eyes can send powerful energy into the world, thus holding the force to bring about misfortune and misery. Anybody can be jealous of you or your potential and send you energy meant to sabotage your success and happiness.
From my experience, these kinds of people usually out themselves in their body language, tone, and actions. Be careful who you tell your plans to, it's important to move in silence with your goals and ambitions as a spiritually inclined individual. They can be friends, family members, acquaintances, etc.
2 Another reason to protect your energy is to ensure that if you actively do spells, they don't backfire. Every beginner has this happen once or twice, A backfired spell is typically the result of unfocused or wrongly focused intentions(love spells are common to have backfires on), lack of protection at the time of spell (deity offerings weren't done/ancestors weren't welcomed into your casting circle/you didn't cast a protection circle), or even an unspecified manifestation (maybe that money spell didn't have an exact amount you wanted to earn involved in it).
3 It also prevents people from doing spells on you, which unfortunately happens. Not everyone that is spiritual means well. Some of the witches out here will hex you to stop your success or progress out of anger and jealousy. Which, in my opinion, is very low vibrational of you guys...
How To Protect Yourself 101
1 Personal Talismans or charms:
It's easy magic, and you can find multiple spells online as well as in some spell books if you don't know of any.
2 Evil Eye Jewelry: It's a simple and common solution to the evil eye problem. If the jewelry breaks, it means that it has served its purpose and caught negative energy successfully.
3 Protection Runes and Sigils:
You can draw runes and sigils in your makeup routine, or your tea/coffee when stirring in honey/creamer/sugar. You can also draw them on you or get a tattoo of a sigil, and lastly, burn them as a spiritual release, and make black salt (A protection ingredient also known to absorb negative energy, Composed of ashes from spells/sage, and salt of your choosing though I prefer to use Himalayan.) You can scatter black salt around your main entrances of your house (doors/windows/against mirrors) or keep in your purse or wallet in a jar.
4 Lock your mirrors:
Mirrors are huge energetic portals. Lock them especially if they face your bed or you have two facing each other as both are easy portals when you're sleeping.
5 Ancestor or deity work: If you can vet and get a deity's help, the karma against whoever is sending you negative energy can be pretty severe. I.e. going bankrupt, family deaths, breakups, car accidents, etc. The more offerings you give to your ancestors and deity's the more powerful the protection is given.
6 Egg Cleanse and Black Tourmaline:
Eggs are the easiest way to cleanse and read your aura if your third eye isn't open yet. Simply place black tourmaline all around your home, and trace your body from head to toe with an egg. Visualize all negative energy leaving your body and going into the egg. When you're done crack it and wash it down a source of running water.
